“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” Movie Review

It's a weekend once again and two movie highlights for this week is Inception and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
If you want a mind twisting and thought-provoking movie, go with Inception. However, if you want to unwind with a visually entertaining movie, the choice isThe Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”

It's an epic adventure about a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who are swept into the center of an ancient conflict between the good guys and the bad ones.

This will be a short movie review. As mentioned, the plot is the usual good versus evil with good winning in the end. I do however, appreciate its effort to insert fresh twists in the storyline although its effort to be funny fails most of the time.

Fans of Nicolas Cage (playing the role of Balthazar Blake) might also accept a breather from Cage's usual serious roles. His arch-nemesis is Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Lead role Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) needs a lot of character development though. It would also help if the actor's voice was not as fanciful until the end of the movie.

Lastly, I commend the almost seamless visual effects and rendition of the The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” I enjoyed it. Thanks to Warner Brothers Philippines and SM Cinemas for the premiere invite at SM Megamall.
